Re: Gogol on Letterman Controversy - Sell Out, or not?
Mon, August 13, 2007 - 3:14 PMAs an aspiring musician, if they landed Letterman, I say RTF on. Share the music. Get in to the distribution structure so you can break out of "show only" sales. More power to the Hutz!
What I've heard of "Super" is awesome. Sounds a lot closer to "East Infection" than "Underdog" - less glossy. I like. Appearing on Letterman just means a whole lot of new people will fall in love with GB, and the crew gets to keep on doing this for a living that much longer. -

Mon, August 13, 2007 - 8:58 PMYeah, sort of how I feel about it. I mean, someone gets a phone call... "Hey! They asked us if we want to be on David Letterman!" WTF are you gonna say? -

Mon, August 13, 2007 - 9:32 PMWhat's the big deal? They were on Jimmy Kimmel a year or two ago, and Conan O'Brian too. Patti Smith was on one of the major network morning shows a few weeks ago- so what?!? She was on Regis and What's-her-name a couple of years ago too. It's fun seeing these music heroes on TV.
Maybe I watch too much television...
Gogol Bordello should have their own show! -

Re: Gogol on Letterman Controversy - Sell Out, or not?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 4:20 PMAs the friend of roughly 500 musicians in Portland, I can say with a certain amount of authority that is damnably difficult to turn a passion for music into a living. Fucking yay for them and may I too figure out the knack of it one day.... -

Re: Gogol on Letterman Controversy - Sell Out, or not?
Wed, February 20, 2008 - 5:59 PMI think we can safely say that success in the music business has little to do with the quality of the music. (Not meant as a comment on Gogol, just on the music business in general.)
