Asian Dub Foundation featuring Eugene Hütz

The British band Asian Dub Foundation dropped thier album earlier this month with a track together with Eugene Hütz on vocals. After the track was finished begin this year it was not released on the Japanese version of Punkara that already released back in March.

Gogol Bordello + Skindred toured Europe

went see few days ago again Gogol Bordello in my hometown Tilburg, Netherlands. Opening for the night was by the Welsh reggae and dub rockers Skindred.
Skindred did as openings band a very good job and getting already everyone moving in the front of the stage with Benji enthousiast words between the song.
9.30pm is coming Gogol Bordello on stage and play for +90 minutes songs from all thier album in hyper energic style set. Also Benji (Skindred) comes up on stage to join Gogol Bordello for a new song (what i'm think is for thier next upcoming album next year).

Help with Fillmore tickets

I didn't get on this soon enough and they sold out. They are being sold for 80-200 a peice now :( I hate, "let's charge exorbitant amounts just because we can." If anyone has any for sale or any tips on how to get them, I would be happy. Need to see this show!

Everything Is Illuminated

Everyone probably knows about this already, but if you don't...

Tonight I went to see the film Everything Is Illuminated, starring Elijah Woods. The co-star is none other than Eugene Hutz! Gogol Bordello appear briefly as a group of buskers in a train station- you get to hear them play The Star Spangled Banner!

There are a number of so-so reviews of this movie around. Ignore them- the film is great. The main topic is how anti-semitism in Eastern Europe during the Nazi years affected (and continues to affect) individuals. Parts of it are really hilarious, and then when it gets serious it's very, very moving. Whatever your reasons for being interested in Gogol Bordello, you'll probably be equally interested in this film.

i'm just back from a acoustic gig of Gogol Bordello, Bedouin Soundclash and Danko Jones who play all 2gether in the Anitdoke Eastpack tour who is are touring around 2gether in EU.
50 lucky winners where invited to come down to cafe Cul De Sac in Tilburg, around the corner from 013 venue where they play tonight.
The feedback of Gogol Bordello was really amazing, shame they played only 3 songs (including a tribute to Joe Strummer, with a new song of thier upcoming album that is schedule for next summer).

To make mention of any topics that relate to the Romani people (the beauty and the struggle).
I think that It is a very rare opportunity to have a voice for the Roma on the Radio, in a time where there still exists a bad attitude towards the Roma and also that there is now surfacing a little acceptance to this beautifull culture. I just got an email from Dimon who's been videotaping their shows and dj'ing some of the afterparties. He's rolling into town around 1:30 or 2am. Anyone up and able to give him a place to crash for just tonight? I'm sure he can get you on the guest list to return the favor (at the very least).

I have two tickets for tomorrow night's (Sunday) Gogol Bordello show in SF. It turns out I can't go after all. I have a friend who MIGHT want them, but if there's anyone who can tell me for sure that would be better.

They were $15--no worries about the service charge. I think tomorrow's show is sold out.

funny shirt story

So I was going to my 2nd Gogol show and I couldn't wait to finally get a shirt. I walk in see 3 shirt designs, two of which are a little boring and I didn't like the fonts very much so that left the one. I just glanced at it and saw a fairy and a deer and thought, "okay" and asked about sizes, bought one and put it in my pack.

I get home and take a look at it and HOLY SHIT! The deer is eating the girl out! I thought to myself, I can't wear this! Guess I need to look more closely at my purchases in the future. Have a look at the shirt here:

The show blew my mind of course. Eugene was kicking drinks off tables, crowd surfing on the marching band drum and climbing the mic stands. From the sound of their new stuff, the next album is going to be a lot more rockin'!

San Diego...

I saw 'em play out here for the 2nd time on May 12. Yes, they were great. The audience was not huge- just large enough to almost fill a medium size club. As seems to be the norm for G. Bordello shows, though, everyone was wildly enthused.

I love this band, especially seeing them live. I think they're almost the best I've ever seen- 2nd only to seeing Ornette Coleman and Prime Time in the early 80's.

Where are all the throngs of humanity? Maybe they're too good to be popular. Maybe the Eastern Euro Gypsy flavor is too strong for the average listener. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, happens after they do the Warped Tour this summer.

GOGOL in LAWRENCE KANSAS

was probably the coolest thing to happen all year.......it was a free show..so i dont know why more people didnt show up.....but it was good for me and my friends..gave us plenty of room for swinging each other around.....
the BOTTLENECK doesnt have much of a green room....so arfter the show....most of the members were walking around talking to who ever wanted to....and having a few drinks...

then later....at a better bar...the REPLAY..........in walks pretty much the whole crew looking to get more out of LAWRENCE........some one put their cd on the back porch sounds system....and the whole party started over.....this time with the local being the spazed out entertainment..as we again danced our asses off...and drank more than our share........the whole thing was very up close and personal....and i dont think i will ever get that chance again with their growing popularity....

its a memory i will always caring with me......thank you RUSS for giving me a whats up on a great group of performers and entertainers......GOGOL BORDELLO......
